This had to be one of the hardest years for school starting of all the years. We had several different rounds of start times, different schedules, and many changes. This year the Father's blessing before school were needed more than ever to offer a sense of peace and instill more excitement to be back to a regular routine and to return to the classrooms.
The first ones to go off were Makayla and Zack.
Makayla started 2nd grade. She has my favorite team teachers this year, Ms. Goddard and Ms. Bybee. She was so excited to see her friends! She is my nervous one, but she put on a brave face and ended up having a very good day!
Zackary started 5th grade. He got put into Ms. Sullenger's class last minute since his teacher got bumped to be the online teacher. He was so excited about that! He got to be with some of his friends and he also had her in 1st grade and loved her. It is going to be a good year!
Zack's buddy Andrew gets dropped off in the morning to walk with the kids each morning. They have developed a fun little friendship over doing this last year and have fun with it.
Our last one to head off this year was Levi. His was probably the HARDEST for me! My first kid in Junior high. Not only that, but this year is hybrid for him to start. He only goes on campus Monday and Wednesday and does remote learning the other days. With only half the kids there each day he only knows a couple of kids and isn't in any of his best friend's classes or lunches, so I was so nervous letting him go. He is such an easy going guy and makes friends quickly. He has rocked it! The online work is not easy to navigate and he has had some transitioning to get used to due dates, but he is doing great. Him and his friend trade off days going to each others houses to work on their homework on the remote days. He loves it, but mom is ready for some "more" learning to be done at school and less game time being played at home when they are done with their hours or two of homework on those days! Hopefully things will calm down and they are able to soon. He is taking English Honors, CCA, Science 7 Honors, Spanish, PE, Creative Coding, Math 7 Honors, and Percussion this semester. He also got on the Robotics Competition team thanks to his referral by his robotics teacher at SAA. He has had fun building and coding after school 2 days a week. So far the transition to Junior high has been a good one!
