Lava Hot Springs Day 1

We were aching for a family vacation. With a long year of Dan in school, we were ready to also celebrate him being halfway done with his MBA! We didn't travel too far from home, but it was just what we needed.
We drove straight up to Soda Springs, Idaho since we couldn't check in to the cabin till later. Our first stop, and probably favorite there, was the manmade geyser. A man dug a hole to get water to fill a pool, I believe, and ended up creating the geyser. The cool part was that it was around 76 degrees and the kids could walk around and even touch the water! It sprayed for 15 minutes or so and they time it on the hour.

Our next stop was the Hooper Springs sparkling water. You literally can take a cup and drink out of the spring. It was not good...like at all. Maybe if you put some flavoring in there??? But, the kids had fun drinking from the spring! We just played at the playground they had there near the campground afterwards.

"The flowers match my shirt!"

Our last stop there was the 'Hot lava.' The manmade lava the kids liked to think was a volcano! Trucks dump it down the hill every 15 minutes or so, so we watched that a few times.
From there we headed to our cabin just outside Lava Hot Springs. Took us 4 minutes to get into town, but felt like we were up out of the way in the mountains!

I would definitely stay here again. It was so nice to have so much space and be so close to town. We also got the camping feel without having to camp!
