Idaho Vacation-Day 1
We were so excited for a family getaway. The busier we get, the more important this is becoming! We had a ton to pack this go around so we inherited a bag to tie to the roof. Someday we will get something a little better. but it worked! We loaded up and headed for our drive to the Bruneau Dunes State Park in Idaho. We stopped for lunch before we got there. The kids were very ready to get some wiggles out after out drive. Since we weren't supposed to checkin for another hour, we decided to hangout by the little lake they had there. It started out a tad rough digging for stuff, impatient kids, and mosquitoes, but after we got the sand toys, swimsuits, and bug spray the kids had a blast! We even packed in a few fishing poles and Dan was casting for a kid and the fish caught right on. It was a small fry, but the kids loved it. We checked out a sand dune, and figured we would spend more time in the evening when it cooled down a bit. We unloaded all our stuff in our tiny cabin. It was pretty funny cramming all of us in there, but I am pretty sure it ended up being one of our favorite things about the trip. The kids still talk about that tiny cabin. We roasted hotdogs and smores before going for our walk to the dunes. The sunset was amazing, the sand was so much fun. The kids were rolling, jumping, sliding, and probably eating eat. Worth it! We played on the smaller of the 2 dunes and I would love to go back and hike the larger one when kids have a little longer legs! We headed back, rinsed off in the showers and went to bed in our tiny cabin! The kids did surprisingly well! I think it was our best night sleep of the trip even.
