The kids were so excited for their last day of school and so was mom! For their last day, Zack had a class awards party. He was awarded "The Mathematical Magician Award." That kid has a calculator for a brain. Levi does too. They have to get that from Dan! But, I he was calculating some subtractions in his head in the thousands that took me a minute to figure out and he was right every time! He had my favorite teachers this year! They said this about Zack: Another Burkholder come and gone. sigh. It's hard for these mother's to let their baby chicks go. This has been an incredible year. When you have a room full of kids who are eager to learn, kind to each other, respectful, and funny, it makes it really hard to let them all move on. As high as Zack came into this year, we are still happy to report that there has been SO much progress in so many areas. We have been impressed with Zack's increased reading prosody, his improved comprehension and vocabulary, his improved number sense, and his amazing expression of ideas in writing. Whatever magic is happening at the Burkholder household, you should find a way to bottle it and see it. We could use more kids, and families, like you guys. We sure love you.
Strenghts: Intellegent and bright. Funny, fun, and so easy to love. Happy and sunny. Reasoning, analyzing, using logic, questioning, has a great memory, good number sense, friendship, leadership, and accepting others. Tenacious and hard working. Very responsible.
His teachers made a cute class slideshow and gave them their stuff. Zack had a good year.
Levi also had a very successful year! He had a very grandmotherly teacher. She didn't write anything personal on his report card at the tail end (teachers have to be exhausted at the end of the year)! She did say, "I have enjoyed getting to know Levi this year and I wish him well in the future." She really did love Levi and always had the best things to say about him. Which is why he received the Citizenship Award this year. He has a fun group of friends and had excelled in math and reading this year. It has been fun to see him develop a love of reading. When he gets a good book he can't put it down until he is done. I wonder who he got that from???? He was SOOOO ready for summer and mom is SOOOO ready to have her helpers home all day!!!!!
THE SWIMMING BEGINS!
