We had quite the experience on Saturday. We had dropped the kids off at the Stevenson's to be watched by grandma and play with their cousins so we could head across the street to the Bountiful temple. We were asked to be the witness couple and sat down and started our session. After about 20 minutes someone came in, paused the video, and said, "Brother and Sister Burkholder? We need to talk to you in the hall." Super confused, thinking maybe there was a problem with our family names, we followed him to the hall. He continued, "One of your kids has hit their head and we were told to tell you to head straight to Primary Children's." Longest few minutes of my life as I was changing and rushing out the door with tears pouring down my face. I have never changed so fast!!! The worst case scenarios were popping in my head and I had no idea which child it was! After calling Grace, we learned that Zack had been doing foot races with his cousins in the backyard and tripped and hit his head hard on the cement. He was conscious and talking to them, but was showing signs of a concussion. We drove straight over to the hospital, which they ended up at LDS hospital (got a tad lost). Bada and Uncle Dan were with him there. We got there just before the doctor came in. Dan and Uncle Dan gave Zack a blessing. One of the many times Dan has been able to use the oil vile on his keychain. We got to hear a little more about what happened as Dan Stevenson described it to the doctor, since he saw what happened. Zack's hands didn't catch him and his head bounced a good 6in off the cement. He couldn't walk, couldn't read a shirt pretty close up, was extremely nauseous, said he was going to throw up many times, complained about numb fingers, and kept repeating that he need his mom and water over and over. When we showed up he could only squint, was in fetal position holding his stomach, and would moan occasionally. I was SOOOO worried about that kid and it is so hard to see your kid hurting and worrying about how bad it was. We had to decide whether to do a CT scan and after reviewing the risks, decided to and to wait and see what he did after treating his pain and nauseousness. He perked right up after that kicked in, which was an extreme blessing. Dan left at that point with his mom and Dan and headed back to tend to the other kids. I stayed with Zack for another hour or two and then we headed home. Zack sure gave us quite the adventure/scare that day and we are so grateful that he was protected from any serious injury. It was hard having something happen like that while you were at the temple, but we are certain that because we were doing what we were supposed to, that Zack was protected from anything worse. That alone offered whatever peace we had on our uncertain drive over to the hospital. We love our Zack and hate to see him in any pain. He has hated the lack of screen time and being told to sit everything out the last few days. He is feeling back to normal, but needs to take it easy for a week or so. I think that will be the biggest challenge for an 8 year old boy!!!

Father's Day
These kids are so lucky to have Dan as their daddy! He is such a good dad. He always takes the time to show them love, teach them, spend time with them (and that is hard to come by sometimes), help them learn to tie their ties, shows them to mow the lawn, wrestling king, steam roller machine, soccer supporter, always shows interest in their days, helps lay by them to sleep, peace keeper, is never too good to do a load of laundry or dishes, ties shoes, wipes bums, even does personal interviews on Sundays to check give each kid one on one time, and many many more. He helps around the house, manages work, school, church callings, and still is my kids super hero!
We were able to drive down for dinner and to spend time with my daddy and siblings. It was fun to have all of us there this year to celebrate our awesome daddy who is always good for a good adventure!
Random June photos
The boys got their uniforms for the next 2 years and both requested mom's old number. I love it! They were so excited to get my number and it made my mama heart happy.
Before and after the summer cut!We have had so much more fun then I even thought we would with this garden. We get so excited about all the new growth and the kids and I check on it nearly every day to see the new stuff! Nothing is dead yet, but no promises!
Pogo stick competition. Zack has a record of over 150 now and holds the crown in our family for the best pogo sticker.
We love long summer nights outside. Thanks to the neighbors and their amazing trees, we have a pretty shaded backyard and we just hang out there often. Boys are practicing their World Cup moves:)
I am on an organize and dejunk kick and have hit some areas pretty hard in our house. It is so nice to get rid of some extra clutter!
Nate's head: 1 Kayla's eye:0
Even though I about threw in the towel, and she struggled to do this at the end, Makayla finished her last month of upstart and got all Golds!!! That means she did it 5 times a week for 20min all 9 months. It was hard towards the end there, but she did it! Patting myself on the back here too:)
Good grade doughnuts! We love summer!!!!
Soccer at 10:20 at night? Why not? I got asked to sub in a 30 and older league and it ended up being pretty fun! A tad too late, but fun!
Snuggle buddies! I will never regret getting Millie with the relationship these two have. It melts my heart!!!
Orthodontist Swim Party at the Roy Aquatic Center
After a soccer practice, and a short stop for our ward BBQ, we headed to Levi's orthodontists swim party at the Roy Aquatic Center. We have never been there and the kids ended up having a blast! They got cotton candy, pizza, and swimming late into the night. It was a fun family night!
Zack was surprisingly, the first to go off the high dive! He started up once and changed his mind. For our cautious Zack, he blew me away when he just walked right up and tried again and jumped right off!
Saratoga Days
We headed down one Friday night for the concert, fireworks, and parade with the cousins for Saratoga Springs Days. The kids had a blast dancing their hearts out, watching the fireworks, sleeping at grandma's, watching the parade, and eating way too much junk food.
Cash and James joined the cub scouts and walked by
Lily and her volleyball team
Backyard Swimming
We spend several days a week in the backyard for hours at a time swimming. I still have to make them get out! Their latest fun is diving for pennies. We have neighbors who stare over the fence, so occasionally we have a few extras join in the fun! Graham loves when Levi or Zack take him for rounds around the pool and is slowly liking his baby boat more and more. Nate has to pee every 15 minutes when he swims. I can't run him in with kids in the pool, so he is getting good at finding a tree, or a fence! They have loved having this pool, and it has served us well for now 4 summers. It'll be the last with this pool, but we may have to find a way to upgrade next year!!! It really is my kids favorite thing about summer and it is some easy entertainment and gets these kids worn out fast!
