Well as we are heading out of town again, I thought I better catch this blog up! At the end of February we headed down to Brian Head with the Johnson Family. We we were a little roughed up heading into it having some getting over some hefty colds. Luckily they seemed to be pulling out (slowly) the few days before, so we still went. The day we got there we let the kids open their birthday presents since Zack, Emmery, and Nate have them so close together! We got the kids all ready and headed out for some sledding and snowmobiling.
The kids were having a blast tubing down the hill and getting picked up by the snowmobile. Here is where the story of the trip came to pass. It took me awhile to be able to fully talk about it without a knot in my stomach, and now I am learning to just have gratitude for the blessings and laugh at my extremely unaware adrenaline junky of a two year old. Makayla had lost interest in sledding, so Dan was shuttling the kids up and down with Makayla. Well, at the bottom he was helping the kids shove their sleds under the bungee cords and was waiting to shove Levi's in before making the trip back up. He was standing next to it securing sleds, Emmery and Zack were already loaded on to the snowmobile behind my little Makayla. Well, you probably guessed it. She hit the gas. The two on the back stayed on for a second, but with nothing to hold on to were bounced off the back as this little two year old took off up the hill. It was all over so fast, as McKay ran towards her at the top of the hill she let off the gas and hoped off to him. Then she requested a starburst. Believe me, the what ifs haunt you. But, these littles were cushioned by angels. The ones bucked off had some bumps, but were fine in the end. And Makayla didn't think it was any different than a regular trip up the hill. We were so grateful that they were watched over by guardian angels that day. And now we have a story for Makayla that we will NEVER forget. My fearless adrenaline junky of a two year old!
The hill of death....
Nothing but smiles!
I think the biggest hit of the weekend was the boys first time skiing! They still can't stop talking about it and can't wait to do it again. I get asked ALL THE TIME! The cabin's back faces the slope. So Dan and McKay took Levi and Emmery down first. Then they took Zack and Mack. The boys picked it up so fast that we even went a third time down the hill with Dan, Levi, Zack, and I. They both could have beat me down the hill. Zack only fell like 3 times, and Levi didn't at all. They definitely had me beat! Makes me excited to take them again! To top off the adventure, Nate decided to make himself known and his eardrum ruptured....AGAIN! So, we headed down to Cedar City and got him called in some antibiotic drops to tide him over. He is scheduled for surgery to put tubes in, so more on that later. We had dinner down there and headed back! With some four-wheeler rides and movies, we had a pretty good weekend. I wouldn't mind doing it again anytime soon!(minus some of the curveballs we got!)
