We surprised the kids last Friday with a DOG!!!! Ya heard me...A DOG! I never would have dreamed of a dog at the moment if we hadn't been offered THIS ONE! We watched Millie about 6 months ago and the kids had so much fun with her. She is a 14 month old Goldendoodle. She was so gentle as a puppy and so mellow. I didn't react much to her with my dog allergies since she has more poodle hair. I always joked that if we could have that dog then maybe we would get one. Well, they called and asked if we wanted to take her since they could not get her the attention she deserved. Their house was getting too packed and they had some other stuff going on. Well, we took the plunge. When Makayla saw Millie all her King Bob tears were gone! She was SO excited! We brought her home and when the boys got home from school we had told them they had an early Christmas present. In the bag was dog bones and toys. They were so confused at first when they saw Millie. They were so excited when we explained that she was ours now! So far it has been really good and she is adjusting well. She is allowed in our house on the top floor (besides the bedrooms). I need to see how allergies do before I can let her go any further. She does really well and has yet to wander away from the main area. She comes quickly when called, sleeps in her kennel, walks on and off collar, loves to play fetch and outside in our yard, loves to chase ducks so walks are easier NOT at the pond, she obeys sit, lay, down, come. My allergies have been aided by Claritin and seem to be diminishing quickly. I had a couple of hives on my arms on and off for a few days, and perhaps a little sinuses (hard to tell with a lingering cold), but now it seems to be very small. I have read that your body adapts and my reaction to her is so much lighter than with other dogs, so I am hoping that is the case with me. It seems to be! That is why she is contained in the house, and probably always will be. She has won over Dan's heart and it is super cute. The kids ADORE her and we love being greeted every time we come home. She is super gentle, quiet, and cuddly. So far we are loving our Millie!
Makayla just wants to play with Millie all day long. They have their playtime in the backyard alone (she wants her to herself) and it is super cute to watch them interact.Wednesday, November 16, 2016
Randoms from November so far
Most of the time it is kinda hard to be in scouts with all the craziness during the week with Dan in school both Tuesday and Thursday nights, kids sports and piano lessons, and then on the night he is home I have scouts. Some weeks though, it is a pretty fun and cool experience to be enjoying it with my family and especially with Levi! We went to Pack Meeting at the Davis County Search and Rescue. Besides passing a group of inmates to get there, it was fun for the kids to run around and see all the cool vehicles and equipment.
These 2 goofballs at Target with their new hats.
Makayla is such a stinking flirt. Levi has been spending some time with a boy named Andrew in our ward being on the same soccer team and scouts. Makayla loves to sit next to him in the car, giggles, and even sat herself on his lap at a baptism we brought him to with us. It was too cute!
I sometimes glance over and see these 4 and can't believe they are all mine!
We made fake boogers at scouts and had to do a trial run at home. The scouts LOVED it!
This girl has no backbone. Her teachers said she has and incredible arch and I have to agree!
We had a surprise up our sleeves and said bye to King Bob. Poor Makayla was home and noticed me handing it over to the lady who bought him off of us. She was so brave until I closed the door. I told her she just had to wait and she would see why!
We had a neighbor ask if we wanted this airplane teeter-totter. They love it!
Grandma Burkholder put together this fun Girls Night with all the Burkholder girls (at least those who live in Utah!). Makayla was so into the show it was so cute! I had a fun date night with my girl and loved every second of it!
We have spent a few Saturdays prepping for cold weather. We cleared out our garage so Dan could park there this winter...FINALLY, took down our tramp, and hung our Christmas lights. Zack wanted to get on the roof SOOOOO bad. We will add more, but the roof lights are UP!
Halloween Festivities 2016!
Our Halloween weekend began with the Hegerhorst Family Halloween Party. As always, the kids had a blast! It was actually the first time they got to dress up and they were so excited!!!! They played lots of fun games and ate way too many sweets. Exactly how a Halloween Party should be!
Halloween costume trial runs!
They even watched the movie to get into character:)
We carved our pumpkins on Sunday night. It always is a lot of work with littles, but we are getting some able to do some of their own!
Halloween night. The kids went out for about 2 hours and exhausted themselves and mom and dad. Nate made it for awhile and even tried to say, "Trick-or-treat!" He was more interested in the candy eating side of it!
