Levi and Zack had their first day of school on August 17th. They were both VERY excited this year. Mom was a little nervous as always. Levi has tag team teachers again for 3rd grade: Mrs. Ripley and Mrs. Hunter. They seem great! Zackary has Mrs. Sullenger for 1st grade, who I heard is a hoot, so I'm sure he will have a good year too! Zack had such excitement that I was not too worried until we got to school. Then it was like near panic masked by trying to be tough face. I was in tears driving home worried about my shy guy there all day!!!! He came home saying how AWESOME it was so those worries are in the rear view mirror now. They have been enjoying school and getting back into the swing of things!

Levi's Baptism!
Levi was baptized on August 6th, 2016. It was a day full of family, friends, and the Spirit. This kid is more than deserving to be celebrated. We had family make sacrifices to attend and we are grateful to them for that. We love our Levi and are so proud of his decision to get baptized.
I wrote this out shortly before he got baptized for my mom's talk in church and wanted to put it somewhere so it will make it in Levi's journal!
Levi met with the bishop recently for his baptism interview. After ten minutes or so the door opened and Levi came out. The bishop waved me into his office. Being this is my first child to get baptized, I was not sure if this was standard or not, so when I walked in I was wondering if I was getting a mini interview as well! The bishop shut the door and turned and had tears in his eyes, which in turn started my waterworks. He placed his hand on his chest and mustered out, “That is one special kid!” Now the water works really started to flow! He proceeded to tell me about the conversation they had. When he got to the part about receiving the Holy Ghost, he said Levi’s eyes started to water. When the bishop asked him if he was okay, Levi responded by telling him that his eyes water when he feels the Spirit. He then told me that the Spirit was so strong in the room and that he is not sure he has ever seen a kid at his age be so in tune with the Spirit. I walked out a proud mama that day and not the least bit surprised at what the bishop said. I have noticed this quality about him many times in his short little life. I can say for a fact that he is READY to be baptized.
Levi was so determined these last 9 months to read the Book of Mormon. Most nights he read a chapter and towards the last few weeks he bumped it up to a few chapters so he could finish reading the Book of Mormon before he was baptized. I was amazed at how much he strengthened MY testimony along the way, with I'm sure his own. He would check on me to make sure I was caught up to him and it made me more diligent in reading mine. He has always been close to the Spirit and that is something I look up to him for. We love his sweet example and his tender nature towards his family. We are extremely blessed with all of our children we have been blessed with. The baptism day went great! Levi had a special day shared with a special kid in our ward who is Autistic. His unique way of brining the Spirit to primary and to the day is something that has blessed Levi in primary as well as my life when I work with him. We had lots of family come to support him and he felt like a celebrity all day. His aunt Jeni gave a great talk on the Holy Ghost and his primary teacher gave one on Baptism. We had a prayer by Grandma Hegerhorst. Grandpa Hegerhorst and uncle Jeff were the witnesses and his daddy performed the baptism ordinance and the confirmation. Dan was so overcome with the Spirit he said he couldn't even remember how to do it! We had some tender moments and ones I hope he remembers! We had a lunch after at the house with a Taco Bar and enjoyed family. It was a great day!
