Dresser...Check!

For Christmas my dad made each of the families a dresser. We were very excited about it and got started on finishing it shortly after Christmas. It took a little trial and error and a few retries, but we finally finished it this last week. So, here is our before and after! I think it turned out pretty good:) We plan to sand down a headboard we got and stain it the same color and eventually make another dresser and maybe some nightstands to complete our bedroom set. EVENTUALLY! For now I am happy with our dresser:) Thanks Dad for all of your hours and hours of hard work you put into these!

Goodbye Crib Hello Big Boy Bed

Much to Mom's disliking, Zack decided this past weekend that he is DONE with his crib. Darn it! I am excited for him to accomplish this but not so excited to help him do it! My big boy is getting TOO big!
He decided after heading down to Grandma and Grandpa's that that was a good place to decide to not sleep in one. For awhile we tried just putting him back over and over. That didn't work, but it was funny every time he would run out of his room with a huge proud smile on his face. He does not like to be touched when he falls asleep so it has been a little bit of a struggle. He is however, getting better at falling asleep when we lay next to him. Otherwise, he just gets up and will play in his room for hours. Not to mention wake Levi up! We are all getting the hang of it slowly. It is funny to walk into the room and find Zack everywhere asleep. He rolls out of his bed and stays asleep. Then he rolls wherever he wants. I do enjoy going to see where he is every time! Love our little buddy!

President's Day Weekend

This past weekend we had lots and lots of family time! We started out Friday by getting Dan's sister's Melissa and Grace's family over to our house. Levi loved having so many cousins to play with and showing them our house! We took them across the street to the pond and tried out our cheap DI fishing poles. We had no idea how to fish, however, somehow we ended up catching one!!!

Can't wait for another visit!
Next we headed down to Andrew's house and spent Friday night there. On Saturday we went down to my parent's house to see Kellie's family, Krista, and my parents. We also got to have a sleepover with Lily and Owen since their parents were on an overnighter. We played and played.

On Monday we celebrated Emmery and Zack's birthdays. Kim and boys were sick and were not able to come....bummer, but we had a lot of fun. We made it a Minnie and Mickey Mouse theme.

Happy Happy Birthday to my 2 year old!!!

Yet another fun weekend!

Memorable Birthday

We had some plans for Zack's birthday that were dashed due to some colds in the house. But, we were determined to still have a fun day. So, we headed out that afternoon to let him pick out a birthday truck at toys-r-us. After we got him some ice cream at Baskin Robbins while picking out his birthday cake there too. After some naps and dinner the festivities began. We did the presents followed by the cake, which he had zero interest in blowing out the candles. Levi of course was way more excited about all of this than Zack. He kept leaning in close to Zack and saying, "Zack it is your special day!" Then he would politely offer, "Do you want me to help open your present, or eat you cake?" I think Zack's favorite thing he received that night was his Thomas card from Bada. He carried it around for awhile just saying, "choo-choo" with a big smile on his face. After the cake we assembled his present. Once again Levi was way more excited about it. We have turned our unfinished basement into a backyard since it is a little too cold outside still (most days). We have their bikes, a small basketball hoop, their little tramp, scooters, balls, and now baseball toy. They LOVE playing down there. The only downer is it is kind of cold down there and I need to watch them while they are down there till we close off the furnace/water heater ect. But, it is a lot of fun and I love how much energy they burn down there. Just when we figured they had burnt enough energy for their sick bodies to go to bed, we put them to bed. We thought that was the end of Zack's low key birthday until.....more at the bottom of the post.

Until.....
Ya, my kids have never had Croupe before, but I am not a fan. About 11 o'clock that night, Dan and I were finishing up a show and heading to bed when Zack started to cough. He had been coughing a little before that and it was sounding a little tighter and tighter. This time however he was crying pretty good. Dan went in and grabbed him and brought him out to get him some water. Zack was in hysterics by then. He was struggling so hard to breath and his face was turning blue. His poor eyes were huge in fear and he was drooling everywhere because he could not swallow. Ya lets just say we grabbed poor Levi out of his bed and drove to the hospital. I knew exactly what it was with that barky cough and tight airflow, but you feel pretty helpless without the meds you know he needed. So, happy birthday Zack in the ER from 11-2am. The cold air outside helped him calm down a bit, but right when we were in the hospital he was hyperventilating again and they brought him back and gave him some Decadron, an epinephrine nebulizer, and tylenol. He also was prescribed Amoxicillin for his red ear. Poor kid! He was sounding much better after the nebulizer and we just sat and waited and waited to make sure we could go home. Levi was in heaven. He has a weird like of doctors. He LOVES to go to the doctor and dentist. He was disappointed the other week when I just went to drop my hearing aid off. He wanted to see the doctor! Anyways, it was a long night with two kids in their jammies and no shoes in the ER for 3 hours. But, I am very glad we did it and they did very well considering. I can't even explain the helpless feeling while watching Zack turn blue...awful. We are still getting rid of the colds all together but, I am happy to say the Decadron kicked in and his airway is not inflammed anymore. Poor guy. That was the end of his memorable birthday. We will try again in a week when we celebrate it at Gramma and Bumpa's house with his cousins!!!!

Zackary is 2!!!!

Happy Birthday to my sweet little Zack. I'll be honest I am a little sad he is 2 already! It went by way fast and I wish I could push pause. He is talking more and more everyday and surprises me with what he really can say. Yesterday I walk around the corner with his bike and he yells, "Bi! Der it is!" He can be such a quiet easy going kid so these random outbursts make me laugh. He went to the doctor this week and his stats are:
Height: 35in (70%)
Weight: 26.8 (35%)
Head: 50.2cm (85%) (given he had a massive golf sized bump on his head from that morning we went in! YA, I felt like a good mom:) That is what happens when you have two boys and they are playing soccer in the hall while you are getting dressed.
We love our Zack and are excited to celebrate his birthday!

His trademark face!

When The Camera Is Out

While trying to catch a pic of Zack wearing a ridiculously small bunny outfit, this is about all I got.
Levi looking like he did something naughty...
And Zack in a hat that is way too tight, but still very cute:)
Seriously, this is meant for a baby, but I had fun squeezing him in it!!! Too funny! The only way to keep him still was a cookie.

Soccer Player

For the lsat few months I have played on an indoor soccer team. It has been a good reminder of how bad of shape I am in, but a lot of fun to play again. It has been TOO long! Levi often comes to watch with Dan and Zack as long as it is early enough in the evening. After the games he runs on the field like it is the best thing in the world and runs around with the most determined look on his face. He LOVES to come and LOVES to pretend like he is playing. After every game he watches he wants to put on my shin guards, socks, and shoes. He walks around like he is so cool. It says a lot that he willingly got into to bed to take a nap and went to bed when I offered him the choice of taking a nap and going to my game, or not taking one and not going. It makes me smile that he loves to watch me and I am very excited to sign him up to play soon. My little soccer player!

His way of putting on the gear:)
Love my crazy active sensitive sweet little boy.
